Following on from this year’s hugely successful Girt Big Barn Dance which raised £1,700 for the Bridport Literary & Scientific Institute, planning for the 2017 event is well underway… and it’s going to be a good’un!
Come and join in the fun on Saturday 14th January 2017 – doors open from 7.30pm.
Grateful thanks go to Symondsbury Estate for once again giving permission to use the beautiful Tithe Barn, Symondsbury. Musical entertainment will be provided by the amazingly talented Jess Upton & The Guilty Pleasures. What’s not to love?!
Director, Andrew ‘Harry’ Harrison explained that, ‘all proceeds will go to worthy causes close to our hearts including Young Epilepsy, St Catherine’s Pre-School and the Bridport Arts Centre.’
Harry and Marilyn’s grand-daughter Matilda was diagnosed with epilepsy earlier this year. Matilda, like many children with the condition, has multiple seizures on a daily basis and needs constant care. As epilepsy is a disorder of the brain and there are over 40 different seizure types, there is still much to learn and charities such as Young Epilepsy are vital in supporting children and families who are affected.
Proceeds will also go to St Catherine’s Pre-School, who have been a fantastic support to Matilda. The staff at the Pre-School give Matilda the best possible care and the whole family are grateful that she is looked after by such a dedicated group of people.
Finally, the fundraiser will be supporting the much loved Bridport Arts Centre. The Arts Centre, which needs funds for essential building work and facilities has been a cultural hub for the people of Bridport and beyond for the past 40 years and long may this continue.
Tickets cost just £10 and are on sale now from Creeds.
